Excited to Travel!
I'm excited to announce in just 33 days I'll be boarding Hawaiian Airlines again to make annual trip to the beautiful island of Kauai, HI for the fourth year in a row.
Kauaʻi or Kauai[a] (/kə.ˈwaɪ.iː/; Hawaiian: [kɔuˈwɐʔi]) is geologically the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands. With an area of 562.3 square miles (1,456.4 km2), it is the fourth largest of the main islands in the Hawaiian archipelago, and the 21st largest island in the United States.[2] Known also as the "Garden Isle", Kauaʻi lies 105 miles (169 km) across the Kauaʻi Channel, northwest of Oʻahu.
I highly recommend this island for explorers and romantic partners alike. Every year I try to do something a little different while I'm there.
So far I've explored the island:
- by car, stopping at nearly every beach along the way
- by land, hiking the first leg of the Hanakapi'ai trail
- by air, on a helicopter tour
- by sea, on a sunset cruise along the Nā Pali coast
- traveled from Poipu to the lighthouse by moped (a fun yet sketchy ride due to top speeds of 40 mph on the shoulder of the road while cars haul ass past you doing 60)
- paddled a kayak up the Wailua river and followed a trail to a waterfall
- snorkeled around Sheraton Beach
- rode a stand up paddle board around in the waves
- attempted surfing haha
- tasted coffee directly from a plantation
- ate like a king at Smith's Luau
These are just a few of the things I've done while visiting this garden paradise. This year I'm planning on renting scuba gear, hiking more of the Hanakapi'ai trail, and just doing some good 'ol relaxing on the beach. 33 days can't pass soon enough... If you've ever visited the island and have something exciting in mind I should check out while I'm there, or have any questions about a trip you may be planning, be sure to leave a comment below and get the discussion going!
